Yes, termites love to eat cardboard boxes. Termites love to eat cellulose, which cardboard boxes provide for them.

Will cardboard boxes attract termites? Well, yes. Food attracts termites. Cardboard boxes are also normally stored in dark or moist areas such as the attic or basement. These are places where termites like to feed. These are also places that you rarely inspect, disturb or look at, which means the termite colonies can feast in peace and grow. Becoming even more of a problem for you, your home and your wallet!

The most common source of cellulose can be found in wood. Whilst this means that termites love trees and stumps, sometimes they also love eating your house and its contents (such as cardboard boxes, books, wooden frames, even paper).

Having cardboard boxes stored does not mean that you specifically have termites. You should keep an eye out and understand the signs of termites. It’s ideal to spot this problem sooner, rather than later. If you have any doubt you can give us a call to arrange an inspection. By knowing the signs of termites you can get in there quicker.

Termites are not the only cardboard box loving pest. Cockroaches, silverfish, crickets and moths can also live and feast inside your boxes, paper and other edible goodies. All of these pests we are able to inspect and treat for, relieving you and your family or business or these pesky and damaging pests. All our experienced team members at Precision Pest Control have been trained to inspect and treat for termites and all types of pests.

Do not try to use cardboard boxes to trap and kill termites. We strictly advise against the DIY approach to termites. If you disturb where termites feast and live, they will move to somewhere else and they may be harder to find, causing more damage as time goes on. Contact Precision Pest Control to arrange a termite inspection and professional treatment.
